Consignment Cocktails: Be Fiscally AND Fashionably Responsible

PS AND KMMy friend/fellow bloggerette/Former Miss DC for Miss America/fashionista/entrepreneur, Kate Michael of KStreetKate, has started a new venture which marries her love of fashion to her comprehension of the dressing challenges which define a social butterfly’s plight.  It’s called Consignment Cocktails.

As a young woman who works for the DC Government by day and is out at social, philanthropic, and business functions most nights, Kate realized that unless you are independently wealthy (and most young women are not), it becomes tough on the plastic to have a sexy cocktail dress on the cutting edge of fashion for each and every event. On top of that, our savvy businesswoman is often photographed for publications, has her blog, and of course, recognizes our neighborhood frenemy, good old Facebook, which by definition, allows anyone who catches a shot of you to post it, thereby letting everyone in the world know what you wore to that cocktail occasion last Monday night. Or Tuesday. Or Wednesday. You get my drift.

What’s a girl to do?  Well, you can go through your closet and say, “Off with her head!”  Wait, no, I mean, “Out with the old and in with the new!”  Consignment Cocktails allows you to sell your “gently used” cocktail dresses while making another fashionista’s past treasure your treasure today.

Check it out at www.consignmentcocktails.com

*Note: I think in these challenging economic times, this is a fantastic, creative way to get a handle on your finances and fashion. Congratulations Kate and best of luck!  I am going through my closets right now.

Well, you can be!  All you have to do is be everywhere we can’t during the Inauguration festivities.  Take unique photos, give us a quick well written re-cap, and you might find yourself on the Punch (with credit).

Whether it’s a Ball, private event, the parade, or anything else, send it in.

We reserve the right to choose, but we want many from which to choose!

Please send photos and re-caps and your contact information to sales@pamelaspunch.com.

Join Washington Life Magazine for The Fourth Annual Capitol Movement, Inc. Fundraiser – January 8th, 2009

(Wow, where did the year go? I can’t believe I am promoting something that says 2009 and the new year actually starts THIS WEEK. Wow.)

The evening of the White House Correspondents Dinner was the night of the Capitol Movement Project’s (CMP) annual performance at Lisner Auditorium which was put on by Capitol Movement, Inc. (CMI) .  I remember that eve well, because it was pouring rain and I had to get from Lisner to the Newseum for a WHC After Party.  What I witnessed in the Lisner was something that will stay with me for a long time.  I can frankly say, I was so bowled over by the raw talent, the precision, the passion, the use of space, the use of the dancers’ bodies and the use of music, that this concert was the only thing I wanted to talk about for weeks following.

To learn more about CMI and CMP, come to Champions of Georgetown on Thursday, January 8th from 6:30pm-9:30pm.  You will meet people from the corporate and retail community who support this non-for profit dance company which focuses on bringing opportunities for underprivileged young people and adults to learn and perform all dance forms.

Washington Life Magazine, the elite Event Host Committee, Special Sponsors and the Washington Redskinettes invite you to a special fundraiser the night of the 8th with Admission being $50.  You will also be able to buy raffle tickets for $25 to win a Genuine Scooter signed by the Washington Wizards (the drawing will take place at the March 7th Capitol Movement Project concert).  All proceeds will go to CMI and the 4th Annual CMP.

You can RSVP now at http://www.capitolmovement.org/auction-rsvp.htm

Capitol Movement, Inc. (CMI) believes in diversity and “Dance for All”.

It is our mission to build better lives through dance by partnering with community organizations to provide disadvantaged youth and underserved citizens the chance to participate in and patronize the arts in Washington, DC.

We also create opportunities for underprivileged DC area dancers to train and perform at the professional level. We represent dance in all its forms and styles as this transcends all boundaries and nurtures our mission.

Happy Birthday Otto

A big birthday shout out goes to the Punch Bowl’s Otto Hoernig III of Casa Noble Tequila.  Enjoy this gorgeous day Otto and thank you for your support of the Punch!

By the way, if you, Dear Loyal Punch Reader, have not yet tried this liquid gold, you must. It is by far, the best tequila I have tasted and the bottles are gorgeous – which makes it a great gift.

Divine Dining

dj_cover_150x99 Congratulations to Carol Joynt for the nod to her Georgetown restaurant Nathan’s, from best selling author David Baldacci, in his newest thrilling release "Divine Justice" (pg 17).  Joynt had interviewed the native  Virginian awhile back at the Q&A Cafe and I then had the distinct privilege and honor of meeting one of my favorite authors (Mr. Baldacci, of course) when they were dining at Wolfgang Puck’s The Source with his wife Michelle and famed the Valerie Plame.

While I am only in the beginning pages of this latest in the Camel Club series, I have faith it will be a pleasure to read.

More Birthday Wishes…

…go to Ariana Abedi, Luke Statz, Fabio Beggiato, Neale Perl, Jeff Lutton, Jeanne Sundstrom, Scott Spencer, and Susanna Quinn.

Speaking of Quinn’s, if you look within this month’s issue of Capitol File Magazine on page 36, you will find an intriguing article written by the prolific, yet understated (yet, very well dressed – page 58) Mr. Jack Quinn himself, husband of birthday girl Susanna Quinn, about our new administration.  Check it out!
