About
The DC region is a beautiful place that I am proud to call home. It offers something for everyone: politics, entrepreneurism, technology, philanthropy, media, academia, business, government, culture, arts, science, sports and a constantly developing restaurant and social scene. We are right on the Potomac River, but are so close to the ocean. We have luscious meadows for horse country, mountains, and stunning architecture. The weather here brings us seasons. The most amazing thing I have found about this place since moving here in 1990 is that we have such fascinating people who make up this “small town.” We are the nation’s capital, but it delivers such a small town feeling. We are so diverse, cosmopolitan, educated, interesting, and connected. I call our various circles of communities: The Olympic Rings. We all will eventually touch each other.
I chose to start Pamela’s Punch as a hobby in November of 2006. Because I have been involved with many civic, business and community events and organizations, I thought it would a wonderful way to share and promote things. Over time the site has grown and continues to do so, even throughout the world. Thank you for taking time to read Pamela’s Punch and please contact me for suggestions on places to visit, people to talk to, or events to attend. I thank Viget Labs for creating this site and continuing to maintain its progress.
The following information is intended purely to give positive exposure to the excellent organizations with whom I have had the privilege to work (and hopefully continue to do so).
Today, I play the role of a fundraiser, freelance writer and special events marketer in the Washington, DC region. I began my Washington, DC professional life in sales and business development. I have worked in defense contracting and spent time in the staffing and real estate industries. During the technology boom, I played a major role in the growth of Net2000 Communications where I really cut my teeth in corporate sales. In 2002, I began working with the Potomac Officers Club (POC) with a focus towards attracting key industry leaders and politicians to address a select group of corporate executives on a monthly basis. In 2003, while still working with the POC, I became the VP of Corporate Development at ExecutiveBiz, where I grew the business by selling advertising, sponsorships, memberships and strategic partnerships.
I graduated from Penn State University, where I was a Tri-Delta and earned my Speech Communications degree in 1994. Currently I am resident of Arlington, Virginia and continue to voluntarily work on projects to help advance the following non-profits: Fashion Fights Poverty, Washington Humane Society, Jete’ Society of the Washington Ballet, Courage Cup, Once Upon a Prom and Washington Performing Arts Society. I sat on the CharityWorks Advisory Board and Executive Committee, was the Steering Committee Chairperson for the 2005 Annual CharityWorks Dream Ball, and Raffle Chair for the 2006 Dream Ball. In 1999, I was the Co-chair for NVTC’s Community Outreach Committee and later became a Founding Board Trustee of the NVTC Foundation. I have been a past Celebrity Waiter for My Sister’s Place Annual fundraiser and have continued being involved in the community by holding positions for the following host committees: 2005 American Red Cross National Capital Area Chapter 100-Year Anniversary Gala, 2005 Palm Night benefiting Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 2006 125th Anniversary of the American Red Cross National Chapter, 2006 and 2007 Sneaker Ball benefiting the GWSA, 2007 Hoop Dreams Scholarship Fund Inaugural Gala, 2007 National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) Spring Gala, was the 2007 Oscar Night America DC Spokesperson for the American Red Cross DC Chapter, am on the 2007 YouthAIDS Gala host committee and was chosen to be the Spokesperson and Chair for the 2008 Red Cross Oscar Night America.
Gratefully, I was nominated to run a fundraising campaign for the 2007 Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Man & Woman of the Year national contest. During the ten week campaign, my team raised over $125,000 and placed 1st Runner Up in the DC market. Most recently I was appointed to the Advisory Committee of the Smithsonian Museum’s Young Benefactors and am an official Partner of the Washington Humane Society.
Again, please do not hesitate to candidly offer your ideas, thoughts, opinions and guidance to Pamela’s Punch. Thank you sincerely for reading and for helping to be an integral part of this region.
