An Infestation in Washington, DC

When I first wrote that OVO, the latest edition to emerge from Cirque du Soleil’s performances and by the way, the company’s first woman directed show (Deborah Colker, writer, director, choreographer), was coming to DC, I did mention how much I detest bugs. I mean, de.test. I have no problem with anything furry with sweet brown eyes, even rats, yes, “urban night squirrels” as my friend Matt calls them.  I don’t scream and freak out when I see them scurry all over the streets at night, but put me indoors or outdoors with a tiny spider or even a gnat, ant, centipede, daddy-long-legs, fruit fly and I want to have a heart attack.  Hey, I’m just hard wired that way. Writing this is making my skin crawl.

However, I suppose I can set aside my fear and loathing for one night.  Frankly, I cannot wait to see OVO.  It looks fascinating-seriously, when have you ever not loved a Cirque show?  OVO lands in the DC area, opening September 9th under the Grand Chapiteau at The Plateau at National Harbor.

Want tickets? Of course you do.  The show goes through October 24th.
