After the Inaugural weekend, the out-of-towners are headed home, the streets downtown are opening up again (thank God) and we are back to the reality of work.
My best remedy? To reminisce on the fun events that took place all weekend!
One of my highlights was the Artists & Athletes Alliance reception at DC Coast, honoring ServiceNation. This reception was so packed it was almost a challenge to get to the open bar. Luckily there was an abundance of passed wine, delicious hors d’oeuvres, and plenty of star gazing. VIP attendees included Biden Sons Hunter and Beau, Actor Omar Benson Miller, freshman Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, Redskins Pro-Bowler Lorenzo Alexander, and former Redskins wide receiver Anthony Armstrong.
The anticipation of Inauguration the following morning kept a steady buzz all evening, and super hip DJ Neekola kept the energy alive with great music.
The program was kicked off by remarks from Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden, followed by Executive Director of Artists & Athletes Alliance Steve Ross. Executive Director Ken Harbaugh spoke a few words about ServiceNation, followed by Hawaii Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, the first of two female combat veterans in Congress.
The Artists & Athletes Alliance is a non-profit that acts as a liaison between artists, athletes, and the navigation through Washington D.C. and political issues.
