Back from a little R&R

Dear Loyal Punch Readers, excuse the long weekend absence from posting.  Yes, we typically take the weekends off, but this one was even better because I finally got to go North and West.  I had an extreme yearning for the scent of farm fresh country air, looking directly into skies clearer and bluer than what urban life can offer, and surveying fields where varying shades of greens, cornflower blues, magentas pinks, the white of Queen Anne’s Lace, and goldenrod yellows grow.  I also needed bonding time with some four legged friends and a bit of R&R.

Now back East and South in DC, the week holds many affairs for us. Tonight is the screening of "Red" (Rated R) a movie produced by Magnolia Pictures (of which Washingtonians John Cecchi and Norman Dreyfuss are a part) and stars Brian Cox and Tom Sizemore.  The film has already wow’d critics with Cox’s acting and for those of you who can stomach a hard core (but very well acted, written and directed) story about a dog that is brutally murdered by three teens for fun and the owner’s plot of revenge, then this movie is for you. Thank you to Washington Life Magazine for the advance screening and VIP reception.

Tuesday night is of course, the much awaited Mi Chiamo Eka Fashion Show, featuring a line up of DC’s hottest bachelors sporting Ebong Eka’s menswear debut. http://www.kstreetdc.com/eka/

There are a few other parties and events this week, however, thankfully, it’s August and perhaps it will be true, that DC heads for the beaches during this humid month, which would lead fewer nights with multiple "must attend" events and the breather we all need.
