This year Becky’s Fund 4th Annual Fashion Show “Walk this Way” was held at the Kastles Stadium at the Wharf, the perfect location to enjoy the last days of nice outdoor weather.  If you were wondering where all the beautiful and stylish people in DC hangout, that night they were at Becky’s Fund Fashion Show; it was as if designers were smiling from the sky and giving approving nods, everyone was looking star studded and glamorous.

The event was filled with star athletes who wore suits from menswear designer Eric Finn Custom Clothiers on the runway and helped raise over $50,000 to create awareness and help victims of domestic violence.  Among them were Capitals John Carlson and Karl Alzner, Redskins DeAngelo Hall, Reed Doughty, Lorenzo Alexander, Chris Wilson and Kedric Golston, DC Mayor Vincent Gray and Pro Bowler Gary Clark.

The athletes-turned-models were accompanied by female models rocking styles from local brands such as Marti Company, Anchyi Wei concept accessories, Melissa Vap Hats, Bishme Cromartie and Charm Georgetown.   All I can say is I’m dying for one of those hats; although, every aspect of the models’ style was impeccable.

I really loved this year’s theme which portrayed victims who often hide their bruises and identity behind their sunglasses while our community also uses them to pretend they don’t see domestic violence. The fabulous stage was set up in a way that the models were emerging from behind giant hand-painted sunglasses.

The star competitors were not the only ones to make an impact on stage. Kastles owner Mark Ein, Congresswoman Donna Edwards and Governor of Alaska Sean Parnell inspired a crowd of over 1,500 attendees with their speeches. Comcast Sportsnet’s Julie Donaldson and NBC 4’s Dan Hellie emceed the event, which was streamed live online and via mobile using Kojami.

Additionally, NBC’s “The Voice” star Sam James rocked the stadium following the runway show, performing some of his latest hit songs debuted on the national show.

Definitely a wonderful event, which keeps getting better every year.  Can’t wait for next year!
