Bees Knees

Lansdowne Resort in The LC has its own bee hive and just let us know that they have recently harvested about 6 jars of honey.  You can taste it for yourself in the restaurants’ baked goodies and fruit salad.  These folks are regular farmers – they’ve also been busy gathering their own tomatoes.  Yes, it’s tomato time.

Since the resort, spa and club proudly totes the Gold Tier Level of being LEED Certified by the International Association of Conference Centers, it isn’t shy about sharing its list of sustainable vendors:  Cherry Glen Goat Cheese, Lois’ Produce, Parker Farms, Meadow Creek Dairy, Green Valley Dairy, Maple Leaf Farms, Maple Leaf Farms, Hartland Farms, Pineland Farms “Never-Ever” Beef, Fields of Athenry Lamb.

It’s almost autumn and I can smell the fire, feel the leaves crunching, and taste the tomatoes, apples, and wine…just reminding you that DC’s Backyard is a perfect place to explore during this season.
