Cast Your Vote with Cake Pops
Cheese, burgers, drinks, pins and … now cake pops! Anyone worth her salt and sugar is getting in on the Election 2012 action.
Baked by Yael, an online bakery based in Cleveland Park, is sweetening the final stretch of a bitter campaign season. Lauded as the “Best Cake Pop†in Washington by Washingtonian this year, Baked by Yael will be offering limited edition election cake pops now through Election Day.
Owner Yael Krigman, who left her job at a corporate law firm to run Baked by Yael full time in 2011, has been spotlighted by the White House as a leading female entrepreneur. Now she is offering the perfect, non-partisan additions to any debate or election party. The patriotic cake pops form the American flag and come in three delicious flavors, American Dream Cookies n’ Cream, Rock the Vote Red Velvet and Cast Your Ballot Birthday Cake. Each pop is a luscious morsel of moist cake, which is mixed with frosting then hand-dipped in a soft candy coating. The pops are priced at $2.75 each, $39.95 for the 12-pop flag basket, or $145 for a 48-pop flag display. Orders are customized based on customers’ flavor preferences.
I bit into these delicious small bites and found them sweet, heavenly, full of flavor and density and yes, a tad bit sinful. I’m a sucker for “birthday cake” and while I’ve been a fan of Starbucks birthday cake pop, I enjoyed Yael’s just the same. It tasted more “home made” than the Starbucks version.
