Champagne, Macaroons, and BCBG DCBloggerStyle
By Punch Correspondent Hannah Roth
Shopping is fun, especially if there’s booze involved. Thursday night, I was lucky enough to be invited to a BCBGMAXAZRIA blogger cocktail party at Tyson’s Galleria. I brought my best friend Winnie – a fashion freak in her own right – and since drinking champagne and looking at clothes are two of our very favorite things, the night was perfect for us. The new fall collection is in stores, and the options for the colder season are full of amazing prints, bold colors and unexpected textures. We ran around like madwoman trying on outfits and ooh-ing and ahh-ing over awesome BCBGMAXAZRIA pieces to layer for winter. One of my favorites was an evergreen-colored midlength winter coat, pictured here:
We browsed while listening to funky techno mixes of “Call Me Maybe”, compliments of the in-house DJ, and the salespeople were awesome at snapping pictures – all the more necessary for a blogger event. Our favorite photographer even got our shoes in the picture without us awkwardly asking (women just understand the importance of a full-outfit shot including the shoes…otherwise whats the point of wearing them?). Mine hurt, Winnie’s didn’t – next time I’m borrowing hers. Here’s one of my favorites pictures of us…I just love having friends who are as obsessed with fashion as I am!
After some hot lil store pics, it was time to get down to business – aka, mingling and talking about the fall line. I spoke with Michelle Choi, store manager and organizer of the event, and got her opinions of what was she was most excited to wear for the fall season. My first question was about major looks – no real surprises there, color and texture and prints, oh my! Leather is big for BCBGMAXAZRIA, as are cocktail dresses in a multitude of colors (formal dressing is one of their biggest markets). Michelle showed me the exact dress Lubov wore to the Spring 13 BCBG runway show – an ethereal tangerine number with pleating and flutter sleeves. Love it!
Some of my favorite dresses for the holiday party season:
One of my favorite questions to ask interviewees: what is your absolute favorite piece from the new collection? After showing me a beautiful but oh-too-practical work-perfect mid-length patterned knit dress, I shook my head. This was too pragmatic, appropriate, and not covetable or fashion-y enough. I knew what she would pick. Her eyes flitted to the back of the store in the direct-from-the-runway section, to an incredible fur stole boasting brown, tan, and white fur with an accent of burgundy for just the right edge. Once I convinced her to pose for a picture in it, she didn’t take it off the rest of the night. THIS is why I love fashion – what else could instill such an air of fabulosity in someone but an impeccably fantastic fur?
Michelle rockin’ it here:
All in all, a great evening of fashion, friends, and fierce fall favorites. Can’t wait to rock some leather and fur compliments of BCBG this upcoming season!
Xoxo,
