Crystal Screen: By The Numbers
By Punch Premiere Correspondent Lindsey Clark
If you have been in DC for at least one summer, then you are fully aware of the fact that pretty much everyone in the District takes a mental “hiatus” from about mid-May until the beginning of September. We may physically be here, working away in our air-conditioned offices, but in our minds, we are far, far away. Since most of us are too busy dreaming about being at the beach, or on a rooftop deck with a glass of sangria in our hands, thinking about or even making plans during the summer can become a bit of a challenge. Luckily for us, we have other people who are motivated enough to do it for us! Crystal Screen, now in it’s 5th season, has made your Monday night plans for you from June 6th to August 29th – the courtyard diagonal from the Crystal City Metro entrance will host free Monday night outdoor films just so that YOU don’t have to scrounge up an OUNCE of the energy that you don’t have trying to figure out what you’re going to do after work. This year’s theme is “By The Numbers,” and every Monday evening around sunset, they will screen a film that has a number in the title – some of the films this summer include 16 Candles, The 40-Year-Old Virgin, 50 First Dates, Apollo 13, and Oceans 11, among others. Grab your blanket and a picnic basket and get there early to claim your spot. Now, if only I can find someone to keep up with my emails and paperwork from now until September, my summer sabbatical just might officially begin!
