Last week, DC’s Dancing Stars Gala hosted a Pre-Event Launch Party to kick off its first annual black-tie dancing challenge taking place next month (October 25). Event Chair Maria Coakley David, Executive Director Susannah Moss and presenting sponsor Fred Astaire Dance Studio DC welcomed over 200 guests to The Huxley for the celebration. Dance enthusiasts and community leaders alike enjoyed a complimentary open bar and light hors d’oeuvres while mingling with the local celebrities competing for the coveted 2014 DC’s Dancing Champion Trophy.
House of Cards actor Lamont Easter, former NFL starÂ John Booty, CBS WUSA9’s Andrea Roane, Senator Paul Strauss and Sarah Hillware were among the 2014 Dancers on hand at the event. Other recognizable faces included 2014 Celebrity Judge Gary Clark, former NFL star Richard “Doc” Walker and NBC 4’s Doug Kammerer and Chris Lawrence. Guests were given the chance to show support for their favorite dancing star by donating at pop-up voting booths throughout the soiree.
DC’s Dancing Stars gala will bring together members of the community to generate thousands of dollars to support local charities, including The Washington Humane Society, Girls Health Ed, T.A.P.S, Hope for Henry Foundation, Parkinson Foundation and The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
On Saturday, October 25, these 11 local celebrities will compete to be crowned the first DC’s Dancing Star Champion. Tickets to catch the action range from $195 for an individual and $395 for VIP. Sponsorship tickets range from $500 as a Benefactor up to $50,000 as a Presenting Sponsor. This year’s Dancing Stars lineup features: House of Cards actor Lamont Easter, Former NFL Player John Booty, Host of The CWâ€™s DC 50 Paul Wharton, Morning WUSA9â€™s Mike Hydeck, CBS WUSA9’s Andrea Roane, Americaâ€™s Miss DC 2012 Sarah Hillware, Americaâ€™s Miss DC 2013 Antionette Cordova, PBS’ Rina Shah, NBA wife Charrissee Jackson, VP of DARCARS Automotive Group Tammy Darvish, and DC Senator Paul Strauss.
