DC’s Golden Triangle Area Welcomes Midtown

At the beginning of September, we shared with you how it was truly the end of an era: Play Lounge at 1219 Connecticut Ave, NW, found within DC’s Golden Triangle area, was CLOSING. http://www.pamelaspunch.com/play-it-one-more-time-bye-bye-to-play-lounge/

How quickly we forget though.  Just as DragonFly (Dragonwho?) is now Current, its neighbor, the former Play Lounge, has been recreated overnight.  Well, almost. Basically within about 2 1/2 months, which in the nightclub/bar/restaurant/lounge equals "overnight", especially considering Georgetown University had seen two graduating classes through its doors during the reconstruction of DragonFly to Current (ok, a slight exaggeration…).

The Michael Romeo Group, which purchased Play, is calling its new venue "Midtown" and will eventually open "Midtown Loft", a private membership only club.

Midtown’s press release boasts the following:  The completely reworked space features all-new sound and lighting, state-of-the-art DJ booth, spacious dance floor, staged dancer platforms, extended bar, elevated VIP party table, and two sky boxes.

Midtown, the latest venture of the Michael Romeo Group, will be open Tuesday through Saturday with a unique theme each night. The venue will also be available for private happy hours and events seven days a week. The versatility of the space makes it an ideal location for corporate and private events. The Grand Opening is set for November 15, 2008.

We cannot wait to check it out … do I sense a Punch review?
