Now that’s the face of a very happy man, don’t ya think? And he should be. That’s David Keuhner, Founder and CEO of Destination Cellars, the company that offers members a world-class global experience for those with a penchant for fine wine, luxury, travel, and the good life.  He and his team stepped into the most natural direction, retailing wine as well as offering their own label, the first of which they unveiled last night in a private wine tasting at The Source by Wolfgang Puck.

Forty friends visited with David, sampled among other brands, the 2010 Destination Pinot Noir, dove into some favorite appetizers from The Source’s Executive Chef Scott Drewno, and networked.

Dave had let his invited guests know that the pinot would still be in “shiners” so we were all truly the first to bring the red to our lips.  Bottling is happening this month and will be available in the early fall. Dave remarked that they wanted to come up with a wine that was fitting for a Monday night at $39 but you would be proud to put it on your table for a special Saturday night occasion.

On hand was their own sommelier Sean Meyer who had just returned from his Master Sommelier examination and spoke to us about the wine and some of the next visions in store for Destination.  Did someone say “Cab?” Sean was formerly the sommelier at Bouchon, The French Laundry and oversaw the luxury portfolio of wines for Jackson Estates.

The company is also in a new partnership with celebrity chef José Andrés (our local hero gone world-wide), in developing some creative packaging, which includes a “glass slipper” or rather, a glass Chuck Taylor by artist Sami Hayek, actress Salma Hayek’s brother.

Art, wine, food … it all melds together to present a lifestyle fitting for well, anyone!
