Fashion Fights Poverty’s 3rd Annual Fashion Show

Friday evening, Fashion Fights Poverty held their 3rd annual Fashion Show at the Carnegie Library on K Street.  It was such a beautiful setting for this type of event.  The co-Founders of FFP and the Style & Image Network (SIN) are Michael Dumlao, Sylvie Luanghy and Kadrieka Maiden.  All three were there on hand to meet and greet during the reception, help to run the show and thank all from the catwalk at the closing and of course, look seriously fabulous.

I can’t even give you every detail of the evening because it was just non-stop action.  What I can do is give you a few of the highlights, the designers, and of course tons of pictures.  I personally was very pleased with the entire event and how smoothly it was executed.  I chatted with Adrian the DJ (Guest DJ was Beverly Bond) at the after party at Lotus, and he shared that there had been some technical hiccups right before the event started, but it was taken care of.   He was so composed during the entire show, as was everyone else who was a part of the production, that no one would have guessed anything had not been perfect.   That is the way an event should done.  No matter what is going on prior or during, the guests have to believe that the event is clicking along smoothly like a fine Swiss watch, which is what the FFP folks did.

The designers who were featured are those who design and manufacture their wares in an ethical manner (no sweatshops, use natural textiles, material, etc).  They were: Basia Frossard, Belabumbum, ChaCha Boy, Ecliptica, Elizabeth Muir, Kimberly Kouture, Liliana Castellanos, Natalia Naftalieva and Orangia. Please visit the FFP web site for more information on these talented and ethical artists.

Please enjoy some of the highlights and photos (yes, that IS Rickey Medlocke from Lynyrd Skynyrd!)

Fashion fight poverty 027 Jaci Reid (Westin Rinehart) and Will Thomas (Fox 5 News) had great chemistry and were quite the energetic pair as Mistress and Master of Ceremonies.
