Fashion For Paws - Recap
No Comments »is on its way to you in the form of a video, thanks to Garrette Moore and DC Compass, however, for the 1100 attendees, this year the Washington Humane Society’s Fashion for Paws was a whole lot better than its inaugural year. Of course, that is common for any event in this town, they only get better and better (hopefully). The Italian Embassy was a gorgeous venue that was well fit for the stage, raised catwalk and tables (that were purchased for a premium price),standing attendees and sea of photographers. Tara deNicolas, Aba Kwawu (who dressed the models), Saks Fifth Avenue Chevy Chase, Toka Salon (who did hair and makeup - all though I went to Jean and Kari at Erwin Gomez, thank you!), all of the sponsors, the Italian Embassy, the Ambassador and his wife, and of course Chair Michael Saylor (who matched what the models raised), deserve a major thank you.
All in all, this event raised more than any other event the WHS has produced, a whopping $255,000, with about 50 models walking, some with dashingly dressed doggies and some without.
The question now still remains, “What Embassy next year?” As we found out from Ms. deNicolas, the WHS plans on doing the Embassy tour with matching theme in tow, which is a fantastic way to check out many of these majestic buildings.
The video should be up this week …
