I’ll Take Manhattan….
Hudson’s John Hogan Offers a Cocktail Week Nod to the Beverage

John K. Hogan, Hudson Restaurant and Lounge’s premier mixologist, pays homage to the legendary Manhattan with his offering of Lady Randolph’s Revenge, in honor of Cocktail Week May 8-13.  The libation will be featured at an event at Proof on May 12 in support of The Museum of the American Cocktail (www.museumoftheamericancocktail.org). Tickets for the event are priced at $135 per person. The evening’s festivities will begin at 7:00 p.m. with a cocktail hour that will feature passed hors d’oeuvres and five specialty cocktails by DC’s finest mixologists, Hogan included, created just for this event.

Named after Winston Churchill’s mother who is considered to have contributed to the popularity of the Manhattan cocktail by having this served to her at the Manhattan Club in the 1870’s, Lady Randolph’s Revenge is Hogan’s updated version of the classic drink.  The Revenge consists of Woodford Reserve Bourbon, homemade Bing cherry and Madagascar vanilla, Hogan’s homemade Vermouth (which is at least four months in the making per batch), Maraschino liqueur and whiskey bitters, all topped with a Maraschino Espuma.  The Lady will also be available at Hudson the entirety of National Cocktail Week.  Who knew one could visit Manhattan at the corner of 20th and M?

Hudson is located at 2030 M Street NW and is open for lunch, dinner, late night dining and Sunday brunch—inside or al fresco, with hours on Monday-Thursday from 11:00 AM to midnight; Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. and Sunday 10:00 to midnight.  For reservations or further information call 202-872-8700 or visit www.hudson-dc.com or www.opentable.com.
