Hotel for Dogs
Washingtonians (for the most part, including the President himself) are “dog people”. No really, they are. It’s apparent when you go to fundraising events like Bark Ball and are surrounded by more beings with paws than hands, or when Fashion for Paws raises a few hundred thousand dollars and has about 2,000 attendees, or when there’s more pet friendly than people focused functions each week. I personally love it because I don’t have a dog. I get to hang out with other people’s dogs (kinda like hanging out with other people’s kids-you hand them back to the real owners when they start to wail/poop/pick their noses/get food on their faces/smell funny/you get my drift).
On Wednesday, July 1st, you too can either hang with other people’s pups or in fact bring your own to the Park Hyatt Washington (24th & M Streets, NW) for Canines and Corks happy hour benefiting the Washington Humane Society. From 6pm-8pm, the pet friendly hotels invite you and Fido/Fifi/Fred to mix and mingle (and hopefully not tangle) with area residents, guests, and supporters of the WHS.
The WHS Mobile Adoption Unit will be on hand for guests who are thinking about adopting. You can meet some sweet ones who are available from their shelters. The cost of the event is a mere $10 which includes 2 drink tickets for beer and wine (a portion going to the WHS). Water bowls and complimentary doggie treats will be provided for your pet’s convenience. This is the second Canines and Corks happy hour with the next on planned for August 5th. Hey, you never know, your mini-you may meet a new play date pal and you could possibly too!
