Kastles get the W against McEnroe

Tuesday night’s Kastles’ “W” by a thread was one of the more exciting matches found in the Washington Kastles Stadium. They played John McEnroe’s New York Sportimes (love these names) and it was the Ladies Doubles who pulled the home team out of the path to losing (18-17).
Any McEnroe scoop? Well, besides him mouthing off to the studly and apparently “bad boy” Justin Gimelstob on the court (so unlike McEnroe to do something like that) and just a few other angry comments and looks - remember, he played a concert to a handful, yes, I heard literally a handful of people earlier that day in the stadium - there was really nothing major. Does he move the same way he used to? Well, when playing against kids half his age, uh … noooooo, and that was pretty apparent. You also have to remember, the guy was such a natural, his practice routine was a joke compared to his peers of his time, so he may not have kept in the best shape over the years. Also, sitting in an announcer booth for hours probably doesn’t build strength, flexibility and endurance.
Perhaps it was the no-show concert (John, this is DC during the day! If Washingtonians aren’t working, they are on vacation … away from here!), or Tatum’s last experience with the law, but whatever it was, he didn’t look very happy to be here. Either way, congrats to the Kastles for pulling out the last minute win and good luck on Thursday against the Sacramento Capitals.

What, no feminist boycott organized against McEnroe and all of his sponsors/employers for his F-bomb tirade into the face of Mashona Washington? I think you put the ‘bad boy’ label on the wrong player.

Diane, you are absolutely right. McEnroe displayed his usual ability to be totally rude, unprofessional and terrible. He is so unliked by many, he probably doesn’t like himself either it appears. I would feel bad about myself if I was 57 and looked like I was 75 too. He was totally inappropriate and had no apologies. The sad thing is, Justin is being replaced as the “face” of the US Open by McEnroe. That is just very disappointing!
