Kastles Kick Off the 2012 Season
The Washington Kastles 2012 season kicked off Monday night in a seasonably warm outdoor setting, the patio of Poste Moderne Brasserie in the Hotel Monaco. Owner and biggest team cheerleader of all (the World Team Tennis-WTT league has cheerleaders, BTW), Mark Ein was on site even as his team, who is the 2009 and 2011 WTT Champions, were playing against the Orange Country Breakers for their away opening night (and yes, they won their 17th consecutive victory overall with a 22-18).
Did you know that the only professional sports team that had a perfect season was the Miami Dolphins in 1972, until along came our own Washington Kastles? Pretty amazing, huh. And for a city which craves, yearns, desires, and pines away for A WINNING SEASON (for the love of Jamba Juice, damnit), this is great news.
Host Tommy McFly of 94.7 FRESH FM welcomed everyone and handed the mic over to Ein, who mentioned in a passionate voice, that while tennis is an individual sport, the players have told him that they work harder as a team, that the fan support in Kastles Stadium is palpable, and even while away, they know the love is still there. Plus, WTT embraces fan involvement, encourages cheering, and even has music to get the crowd up and energetic during the doldrums of the hot Washington summer air.
