Kings, Princes, and Bishops: A Toast to Alexandria’s Bishop Boutique Owner Kelly Ferenc

By Punch Correspondent Hannah Roth

Tuesday night I was lucky enough to attend an anniversary party. And no, this was not of a strange couple that decided to host a cocktail party in honor of their one-year. Kelly Ferenc, owner of bishop boutique, has much to celebrate with the first successful year of her Alexandria shop, and she let a lucky group of fashion admirers join her for a cocktail party in recognition of this blessed event.

Stylists and bloggers alike flocked to Alexandria to celebrate with champagne and cake pops (gifted accessories from Elaine Turner didn’t hurt either). The styling competition got rather heated, but the two looks produced – after much debate – turned out beautifully. The models are pictured below accessorized completely from bishop boutique, cheesin’ it up with some cake pops:

Passionate and successful boutique owners are some of the most intrepid individuals, and constantly amaze with their multitalented and ambitious nature. Kelly holds true to this principle. She is pictured here, on the right, next to sales associate Bridget:

I had the pleasure of speaking with Kelly and asking a couple questions about the store, her life, and how she managed a year (and many more to come!) at her sensational shoe haven.

H: What was one of the highlights of your first year in business?

K: Opening my own door every day and walking into my own shop – being a part of the community and having tourists come back when they come in town. One customer always comes to DC on business and makes it a point to stop at my store…last time she had a cab waiting outside to take her to the airport after her shopping spree. This past year, we were ranked in the top-ten shoe stores in the Washingtonian, which was also very exciting. Also, when stylists call in samples for editorial stories…basically owning my boutique feels like Christmas everyday.

H: If you could give a woman one piece of personalized styling advice, what would it be?

K: Confidence. Everything’s icing, but you have to love yourself and believe in yourself to truly have great style.

H: What are three of your favorite shoes and/or accessories featured currently in your boutique?

K: The Pura Lopez line we carry is very special for boutiques, in that you can pick all the detailing (color, fabric, extras) and add your element to them as a boutique owner. Two of my other favorites currently in store are the Loeffler Randall chevron boots and Ivanka Trump black and blue riding boots…but I feel like all my shoes are my children, and I can’t pick which one I love more!

Here are some of my own personal picks and favorites from this fabulous boutique:

LOVE loafers for fall – two I am coveting pictured here:

Pura Lopez AMAZE black patent Mary Janes…they remind me distinctly of the episode of SATC where Carrie freaks about the Manolo Blahnik Mary Janes she thought were an “urban shoe myth”…

And I could never forget to accessorize!

I need this NOAH Safari-print foldover oversize clutch:

Art Deco-inspired bangles that I want to stack fully up my arm every day:
