The latest webisode of The District Dish is up with the super talented star, keyboardist Marcus Johnson. (Pictured: Marcus, Ginuine, Ski Johnson) We talk with the Billboard Contemporary Jazz chart topper about his inspiration, the landscape of the DC music world, and how he knows he’s riled up his audiences (it’s a physical thing, you see).

And Wow! to see this guy live perform is out of this world.  Many of us (including half of Washington’s newscasters, as well as some music celebrities) had the privilege to see both saxophonist Ski Johnson and Marcus jazz up the Ritz Carlton Georgetown on Wednesday night. It was jawdropping. Congrats to both artists and thank you for making Washington sexier.

Here’s a bit about the night:

R&B icon Ginuwine and his wife ex-rapper Sole joined Huey Lewis and Ju’Not Joyner of American Idol to support Jazz sensations Marcus Johnson and Ski Johnson’s combined album release celebration at the Ritz Carlton Georgetown in Washington, D.C., sponsored by the American Cancer Society, Tarara Winery and Markers Mark. #5 Contemporary Jazz Billboard chart musician Marcus Johnson performed songs from his new album “Poetically Justified” for a packed crowd including NBC’s Jim Vance, CBS’ Andrea Roane, ABC’s Leon Harris, FOX’s Will Thomas, NBC’s Lindsay Czarniak, BET CFO Michael Pickrum, former NFL Redskin Darryl Pounds, celebrity trainer Mark Jenkins, celebrity plastic surgeon Dr. Ayman Hakki, Miss D.C. Kate Marie Grinold and Miss Teen D.C. Jasmine Alexis among others.
