He has one of the more recognizable voices on televisionm especially if you are a fan of classic films. Robert Osborne has been the face and host of Turner Classic Movies since it launched in 1994 and soon he will make his way to Washington DC to give us some red carpet treatment, thanks to the National Portrait Gallery.
On March Wednesday, March, 12th, Mr. Osborne will interview Amy Henderson, Curator of “Dancing the Dream”, then have a follow up screening of Flying Down to Rio (1933) at 6:30pm. at the Nan Tucker McEvoy Auditorium (LL National Portrait Gallery –8th Street & G, NW). Film Program only: $15 ($10 early bird price until 2/12/2014). Includes an interview and discussion with exhibition curator Amy Henderson and Robert Osborne, followed by the movie Flying Down to Rio (1933) in which a dance-band leader finds love and success in Brazil. This is in conjunction with the “Dancing the Dream” exhibit currently on view at the Portrait Gallery, and featuring a portrait of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers.
