Plain White Tease

Thank you to Tommy McFly of MiX 107.3FM (pictured above with his “Media Angels”), Gibson Guitar, and Commonwealth for the great concert and lunch today with the band Plain White T’s.  The name, which originated from the band members’ love and appreciation of the 1950’s era, describes a simplistic way of music and living, and these five guys certainly are cool and down to earth (not to mention charming and pretty darn funny too).

Loyal Listeners of the radio station and superfans of the band (whose demographic were made up of a lot of “Tweens” – is that even a term that’s en vogue anymore?) were treated to open mic Q&A, two full length songs off their Big Bad World album: Sunlight and 1,2,3,4 (which is topping charts), and then, even though the band’s rep said basically to Tommy (and I don’t quote): READ MY LIPS, NO MORE HEY THERE DELILAH! they played it.  Well, some of it- it was a total tease.

Tommy asked them about the uber-famous song which set Plain White T’s soaring to the top of everyone’s iPod list, then they cordially broke out a few verses to everyone’s delight.  Did the crowd sing along? You betcha…until it came to the second verse where the small audience of 40 or so kept their mouths clamped.  ”See, I knew no one knew the words here!” laughed singer Tom Higgenson.  No matter, he kept going, which met our satisfaction.
