Punch Pick: Todd Gray’s Muse at the Corcoran Sunday Brunch
Sunday brunch in this town is a long revered past time. Also known as “Sunday Funday”, the full experience comes complete with hours upon hours of endless Bloody’s and mimosas complemented with platefuls of hearty (or healthy) food stuffs in a setting that is fit for a hungry family, a set of lovebirds (perusing FT or not), a group of hungover friends, or a bunch o’babes who brunch. It’s not just about the eating, it’s about the gathering. To make the event as perfect as possible, this tradition often calls for planning and reservations as the spur of the moment actions leave us waiting for way too long as we watch platters of omelettes, hotcakes, and pastries pass us by going directly into eager mouths belonging to early birds who most likely called ahead.
So … here’s our advice to you. If you are looking for a change of venue yet don’t want to sacrifice what you know to be excellent dishes and top notch service, may we suggest Todd Gray’s Muse at the Corcoran for your next Sunday romp?
Here’s some tempting menu items that will surely lure you (and me): Barbecued Salmon with Sweet Corn, Roasted Peppers, and Cilantro, Meyer Lemon Pancakes with Spiced Peach Compote, and Sweetened Mascarpone, Muse Benedict with Edwards Virginia Ham with Grilled Scallion Hollandaise, Applewood Smoked Bacon and Roasted Italian Sausage, Grilled Zucchini and Ricotta Frittata with Parmigiano-Reggiano and much more.
Surrounded by one of the city’s artistic treasures (and one of our favorite museums), you cannot go wrong. Todd Gray, the always smiling, spirited, enterprising chefs in the city who, by the way, I’ve never seen out of his chef jacket, produces consistent excellence and we hope you will indulge. See you Sunday(s) this summer.
