Tuesday, June 18th 2013 marks the would be Centennial birthday for Napa wine legend Robert Mondavi. To mark the occasion, the Wine Cooperative hosted a special dinner event last Friday at the Ronald Reagan Building.
Guests were treated to a four-couse meal prepared by the well-known chefs, Executive Chef, Xavier Deshayes of the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center and Chef Todd Gray of Equinox Restaurant. The crowd pleasing pairing of the night was the brioche crusted skuna bay salmon with sweet corn sabayon, fava beans and chanterelles paired with the Mondavi Pinot Noir Reserve, Carneros of 2010. Also popular was the Mondavi Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve of 2000 served with the slowly braised short ribs.
The night celebrated Robert Mondavi’s role as a life-long California wines ambassador. Today the Robert Mondavi name is behind three major wine labels including Robert Mondavi Winery in the Napa Valley, Robert Mondavi Private Selection and Woodbridge by Robert Mondavi, all part of the Constellation Brands family and widely found at numerous wine retailers.
