Saturday Matinee
Ugh, it’s Saturday morning, you are a bit hung (because you had cocktails a million and danced your heart out at Cherry Blast!), and you are for sure in need of a Venti 5-namer from that corner place, but you know the best way to rid yourself of the yuckies is to get out of bed and get moving. Let’s say you have already hit the Cherry Blossoms (or don’t want to deal with the screaming kids and Spring Breaking families) and do you want to sit in a dark movie theatre viewing the latest 2 1/2 star blockbuster. The bike trails are over crowded and the al fresco brunch/lunch places would contribute to your headache. What to do?
Grab your friend(s) and head to U Street’s MooJoo Ken for one. I definitely plan on going because a) they are great Punch Partner, but besides that, they have one of my favorite designers Mocha Butterfly’s designer, Nikki Walker-Warren, in house this coming Saturday afternoon. She’ll be there from 1pm-5pm. Personally, I have spent a few Saturday afternoons at the tiny design house and shoppe. Partners Ali, Heather, and John Mark always make it a great time.
MooJoo Ken is located at 1512 U Street, NW 202.234.3140
So, you’ve picked up a few spring-y pieces, are feeling better (shopping is the ultimate cure) and now you want a bit of culture. Ms. Julia Keefe (Nez Perce) who hails from Spokane, WA, is an award-winning jazz vocalist who will perform swing era classics of jazz legend and singer, Mildred Bailey, at the Smithsonian Museum of the American Indian. Julia began singing while in the sixth grade and won an outstanding vocal soloist award at the Lionel Hampton International Jazz Festival in 2007.
You have your choice of TWO SHOWS. One starts at 2pm and the second at 4pm.
Location: Rasumson Theater 4th & Independence Ave. More information

Whatever you choose to do this coming Saturday, enjoy and wish you a wonderful Passover and Easter!
