Shutterbug Shoutout : FotoDC ISO the Best Photographers for the 2nd Annual Uncover/Discover Exhibition
Do you fancy yourself as an Annie Leibovitz of sorts? Or are you more of a nature-stalking National Geographic-type? Do you find that you spend more quality time in camera shops (or even in Best Buy) than the average bear? Do you follow two or more camera manufacturers on Twitter? Do your eyes light up when your iPhone alerts you of a brand new Leica model? At events do your conversations tend to be with photographers about their cameras versus about politics/gossip/the weather with the rest of the guests? Are your walls adorned with framed shots that you proudly display? Do your friends and family constantly tell you “You should enter a photo contest!” when you show them your latest and greatest prints?
If you answered yes to… any of those questions, you need to get your rear in gear and apply for the 2nd annual FotoDC Uncover/Discover Exhibition contest.
FotoDC is once again on the hunt for the most interesting, compelling work by Washington area photographers for the 2nd annual Uncover/Discover exhibition.
The hand selected, expert panel of curators includes Elizabeth Krist, Senior Photo Editor at National Geographic; Jayme McLellan, Director of Civilian Art Projects and Ken Ashton, Artist and Museum Professional. Curators will select work from emerging and established photographers for a chance to be featured in two exhibitions this fall. The first will be held at FotoDC’s FotoSpace during the month of September, and the second, at a prominent show during the 5th Annual FotoWeekDC Festival, November 9-18, 2012. Photographers will also have the opportunity to present and discuss their work at a special evening during FotoWeekDC and will receive extensive exposure through the new FotoPage feature on the FotoDC website, Facebook, and other social media outlets.
Portfolios for Uncover/Discover must be submitted electronically through FotoPage, the revolutionary new FotoDC online portfolio and directory platform. The cost of submission includes a yearlong subscription to FotoPage. Portfolios should contain between 10 – 20 images that showcase a cohesive body of creative work, a series of images that connect in theme or subject matter. All entrants must be at least 18 years of age to participate.
Early Submission for Uncover/ Discover ends on June 18, 2012 at 5:00pm EST with a fee of $30. The final deadline is June 30, 2012 at 5:00pm EST with a fee of $45. Submission instructions and details may be found at www.fotoweekdc.com.
