Sinatra Leaves His Stamp on Life

Hudson Restaurant and Lounge was full of rats last night.  Well, Rat Packs that is.  The place was booming, literally, with the live music of Joker’s Wild, the local Sinatra/swinging/crooning band who makes one long for the simple days of yesteryear.  Martinis were being gulped down by the patrons who came to listen to the tunes, watch a few old Frank baby flicks and appearances, and celebrate the man with the voice and the very blue eyes.  The comemmorative $.42 stamp with his tan mug on it was created to honor the 10th anniversary of his passing.

How did this crooning creature get on the stamp?  Can you believe that 50,000 proposals are given to the USPS for new stamps yearly?  Sinatra happened to be one of them, and guess what, he won.  He was one out of 20 who were selected for 2008.  The stamps went on sale on Tuesday in New York, Las Vegas (his favorite haunt) and Hoboken, NJ, where he was born.  For the rest of us, we can go to http://shop.usps.com/wcsstore/PostalStore/upload/htm/sinatra/ to buy them online.

Thanks to Peter Mirijanian Public Relations for bringing this event to Hudson and honoring one of the best entertainers of the 20th century.
