Tangerine Tango – Summer Swap Saturday | June 30
By Punch Pep Correspondent Elizabeth Fischer
Tired of your closet? – Feeling the summer blues due to the oppressive heat? – Need a change but don’t want to venture too far from the air conditioning? – Want something new for the 4th of July but just don’t want to spend a lot of money or deal with the crowds also taking cover from the heat? Well – if you answered yes to most, if not all of the above, I have the answer, the perfect way to stay cool and find something fabulous, unique and cheap! All it takes is $10 dollars and a willingness to part with a few of your items that are just taking up valuable closet space.
There is nothing more therapeutic or, shall I venture to use the word fun, like cleaning out those closets – getting rid of the old and making room for the new. Over the last several years, my closet cleaning has become a quarterly event with the adoption of a 1 year rule – anything I hold onto must be worn the next year or it is gone. Many items, if not all, never survive.
I usually donate my clothes to various charities, including Goodwill & Suited-for-Change; but recently came across a new option, which provides the best of both worlds – I can still donate yet I have the option to exchange a few items allowing me to update my wardrobe without costing too much. The secret – an organization started by Kristine Thomas known as Dewdrop DC, where events are hosted so like-minded, frugal, yet smart women take advantage of bargain deals from someone else’s closet.
Sound good? If so, this weekend is the best time to update the wardrobe – taking cover from the 100 degree temps just in time for the holiday. Come and unearth your rare discovery by joining Dewdrop for its fashionably green event, the Dewdrop Tangerine Tango Swap.
On Saturday, June 30th from 1 to 4 p.m. at Vapiano in Bethesda – just off the red line located at 4900 Hampden Lane.
The first event was a swap in November that was a huge success; with the second event a spring swap in Arlington (article to follow). Arlington added the concept of the pop-up shop so those who attended were also able to add new pieces at discounted prices. Tomorrow, swag bags have been added.
THE SWAP:
Bring at least five pieces of stylish, like-new clothing, shoes, and/or accessories and walk away with as many items as you want! But no hoarding please. Please remember the #1 swapping etiquette–only bring items you wouldn’t mind parting with, but would be proud to give to your best friend. Absolutely NO soiled clothing, or clothing with holes, tears, or pulling will be accepted! All sizes welcome! Summer/Fall items only! And please, no t-shirts, bathing suits, PJs, or undergarments!
All clothing remaining will be donated to Goodwill. Goodwill’s mission is to help people earn a living, improve their lives, and strengthen their families and their communities. BUT, this doesn’t mean we’re a donation center—only bring clothing in GOOD to NEW condition–this will save everyone LOTS of time.
The teaser mentioned above = OTHER EXCITING NEWS:

Inside this delectable bag is a Trina Turk necklace worth $250.00 – will you be the winner? Check #summerswap.
