The Great Renting Hype
After our media friends and the rumor mills had made us all believe that anyone and I mean anyone could rent out his or her apartment/condo/house/townhouse/patch of grass/sidewalk square for thousands upon thousands of dollars during Inauguration week to some poor – oops, I mean rich – sap – who would brave the 4 million (or is it now 2?) people and the Washington slush/snow/freezing rain/inclement weather and the transportation nightmare (roads being shut down/closed Metro stops) and the heightened security risks … I ask you, “Who has actually rented out his or her place?”
I did some checking around recently and found that this so-called rental phenomenon may have been slightly hyped up in previous months (which is normal). However, I am very curious to hear if anyone actually has rented out their place and for how much? No names will be reported of course, but if you were one of the lucky ones who booked an out of town Obama-lover, please let us know, for the survey I took recently came up very empty.
Thanks in advance for your information!
