The Many Hats Institute holds "Fashion & Futbol" at L2

Aston Martin, Terra Boutique, L2 011 The Many Hats Institute (MHI) held their “Fashion & Futbol” fundraiser at L2 in Cady’s Alley last Wednesday evening.  Guests donated at least $40 at the door, and with a great crowd passing through between 7-9pm, the all volunteer non-profit pulled in some good numbers.  While the main reason for having the event was to raise money, raising awareness about MHI has been of much importance to the organization as well.

The Hatters are a group of eclectic, successful industry leaders, who share the view that it takes many people from all backgrounds working together to create a better future for our youth.  These folks work in concert to hold events, find strategic partners and raise money for their “Initiatives”.  The funds raised are distributed to the Initiatives in order to support them, instead of creating another whole separate initiative.  This is an excellent way to utilize resources and streamline marketing and development (think Greater Washington Sports Alliance Foundation -they raise money to donate to their own chosen Initiatives as well).  The charities that were supported by Wednesday evening’s funds were: LoveFutbol, the Michael Walton Foundation, and CityDance Early Education.

Aston Martin, Terra Boutique, L2 012 A highlight of the evening was meeting Michael Walton, the world class sprinter who will be heading off to try out for the 2008 Olympics.  His long bio can leave you either inspired or depressed because he is so darn accomplished and giving of his time (and oh, so darn charming, handsome and humble) at such a young age.  For more information on all the great things Mr. Walton is doing, please check out: http://www.mikewaltonusa.com/

Thank you to Fabian Koss, the Founder and Leader of the Many Hats Institute.  He continues his activism tirelessly while his day job is a large responsibility with the Inter-American Development Bank.  Thank you also to Lizette Corro with the Webster Group, another co-Founder and volunteer, Philippe Lanier and Rorigo Garcia with L2 and of course, all the sponsors and supporters who came out to learn more about Many Hats.
