The guns were ablazin’ at last night’s charity arm wrestling competition, “Battle of the Biceps” (BOTB). The Rookery was on fire (literally, it was H-O-T in there in more ways than one) as some of DC’s strongest and bravest guys and gals took center stage to duke it out. Both the energy and noise levels were high as cheers and smack talk filled the air. This entertaining and hilarious event was taken seriously by the competitors, who donned their fiercest muscle tees and tanks.
Of course, sportsmanship prevailed as every round was all in good fun for a great cause. Your minimum $10 donation at the door benefited Neediest Kids, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing educational assistance and supplies to disadvantaged children in the DC Metro Area.
There were four champions named out of 32 at the end of the competition. The winners were: Samantha Dredge (Ladies Division), Otis Ofori (Lite Heavyweight), Beau Burke (Middleweight) and Mat Ball (Heavyweight), but the true winners of this charity competition are the children. Thanks to all who participated and came out to show your support! Special thanks to Atila Omer, Ashley Miller, and the rest of the host committee for organizing such a fantastic event. That’s all I have time to report, ladies and gents… I’ve got to hit the gym to prepare for next year’s tournament.
Missed last night’s arm-wrestle-mania (or simply couldn’t see the action from the back)? You won’t want to miss catching up on the bios of these buff and boisterous competitors: http://www.battleofthebiceps.com/BOTB_ProgramGuide_July31_FINAL.pdf
