Washington Wizards Seek to Establish A New Tradition
Post and photos by Punch Correspondent Darryl Keeton
Attending a basketball game in D.C. is a commitment. Â By the time you unwind from work, make your way to the Verizon Center, find parking, and get to your seats you already have a lot of time and effort invested in the evening.
It makes it easier and significantly more enjoyable when the Wizards win as they did on Tuesday evening against the Toronto Raptors. Â What made the win more special was that it was their first win of the season after beginning 0-8. their worst start in franchise history. Â With only a couple of weeks into the season, frustration was already building in and around city and the Wizard faithful began practicing that familiar song of wait ’til next year. But that was before tonight.
All good streaks begin with the first win and the Wizards seemed determined that tonight they would not denied. All five starters had scored midway through the first quarter and the energy on the court was noticeable. Â When the final score, 93-78 registered on the scoreboard, a sigh of relief came from Wizards fans in the form of a standing ovation.
