Welcome Lena Aburdene

I’d like to take this time to introduce you to the newest addition to the Punch, Ms. Lena Aburdene (pictured above).  Lena comes to us with a background the spans the spectrum.  You’ll be seeing posts from her as she attends various events representing the brand (so be nice to her when you meet her!) and she will be assisting in the continued success of the site from many respects. I am so excited to have Lena on board.

A bit about Lena:

Lena Aburdene recently graduated with her second Masters degree in Pastoral Counseling from Loyola College.  The degree is traditional psychology integrated with theology.  During that time and a bit before, she worked with cancer patients and their families, focusing on loss, bereavement and end of life care at Sloan Kettering hospital in NY and Johns Hopkins in Baltimore.  She has also worked for oncologists and maintained and managed all the patients’ schedules, needs and concerns.  This past year, Lena interned for Catholic Charities where she worked with the mentally ill and the homeless in DC as a teacher and counselor.

Before that, she did her first Masters in Communications and Media Studies at Fordham University and worked in the entertainment industry doing a bit of everything.  In college she worked for several Hollywood casting directors, including Clint Eastwood’s former casting director, who is now deceased and Avy Kaufman.  Lena wrote movie reviews for a website called the Cinema Source and went to press junkets and interviewed the actors and directors at roundtables.  In addition, she also dabbled a bit in PR and production.  Lena a trained turntable DJ and worked in NY at Scratch DJ Academy managing the office while also DJ’ing in NYC. In DC, she also DJ’s and emcees events from time to time.
You may catch Lena DJ’ing, emceeing, or even hosting fundraisers herself, as she has in the past for Street Sense, Peace Players International and Solving Kids Cancer.
Lena is a force of nature and I cannot tell you how lucky I am that she reached out to me.  You’ll be for sure hearing from and seeing a lot of Lena Aburdene.
