Who’s Afraid of a Little Gossip?

Gossip, gossip, gossip! Oh, admit it - we all love to hear the latest juicy tidbits and secrets of the celebrity world. Admit it! Why else would US Weekly, People, Star, and Page Six of the New York Post be so darn popular? And why else would VH1 and E! dedicate so much air time to the “other side” of the celeb world? (Heck, even our local pubs like the Examiner’s Yeas and Nays seek hot tips on a regular basis) And why else would someone like Michael Musto make an entire career of writing for the Village Voice’s gossip column (La Dolce Musto)? EXACTLY.

Last night, the much revered and gossiped about (yes, even the gossipers do get it right back) Michael Musto, held a party with DC friends at Nage in Scott Circle. The purpose of the party was to not only introduce Michael to a new set of DC’ers (myself included), but also to promote his recently released book, La Dolce Musto. Ok, not the most creative title, but at least Mr. Musto is consistent and we will never have to be confused between his book and his column. The book is basically “the best of the best” of years of his entertainment and gossip column. Warning: I hear it is very, very outrageous. Let it be heard. You were warned here first. Now if that doesn’t make you want to run out and buy a copy, I don’t know what will!
Michael has been writing for the Village Voice for over 20 years, has appeared on E!, several other shows like Keith Olbermann and continues to be in the limelight in NY. According to Wikipedia, Michael was named the Best Gossip Columnist in a poll conducted by nycsidewalk.com.
The hosts of the party were Victoria Michael, Rob Capriccioso, Katherine Kennedy, Jeff Gannon, and Red Peg Marketing (Keri Mesler). Thanks to Josh of Nage for opening up his chic bistro. The P.I.N.K. vodka drinks were very yummy - however, I didn’t realize there was CAFFEINE in it! Great if you are going out after, bad, if you want a good night’s sleep…
Who was there: The usual suspects as well as Tammy Haddad, Kate Gibbs, Kate Michael, Pamela Brown, Jeremy Bronson, and a few other media regulars.
Highlight of the night: I can’t choose between when Michael stood up to say a few words and began by reading some choice quotes from Suzanne Somers’ book of poetry called Touch Me that put the crowd into tears of laughter or when the two drag queens popped in for a cocktail. I hear it is NOT a true Michael Musto party if there are no drag queens in sight! It’s official - last night was a true Michael Musto parteeeee.

[...] The reviews. Wonkette, our competitor, raved about the bash, but, oddly, spent more time talking about Big Head Rob than Michael in their post today. For the record, everyone at Big Head DC thinks that intern Nick Mueller has classic good looks; Brightest Young Things offers a super round-up; DCist does what it does; Freelance Genius had fun. Pamela’s punch was spiked! [...]
